Remote-Control Supported Safe Box

Project Introduction:

This product is a safe box which can be unlocked by entering the correct password on a keypad or remote Wi-Fi control. A special software is designed for Wi-Fi remote control. The user could unlock remotely after relevant authentication. 

Operating Principle:

The product has got two Arduino board inside, one is for keypad and the other one for Wi-Fi model. Since both of them should be able to control the motor, an OR GATE chip is introduced. Thus, the product realized remote-control and keypad control at the same time. Since the Wi-Fi model is able to receive information from application designed, the user could control the safe box remotely.

Weekly Progress:

week1: Since the ordered components have not arrived in week 1, everything was based on theory. All the group numbers was learning in their relevant fields by searching on the internet and looking forward to the components arrival.

week2: First, the circuits of keypad and Wi-Fi model were designed. Afterwards, the keypad circuit was connected after hardware components arrived. The box model has almost been finished as well. Besides, the software programming also started.

The keypad circuit at that time is shown in figure below.

week3: Everyone almost finished their work in week 3. The circuit of Wi-Fi model is connected now, and the software is 70% done. The motor was already fixed on the box and the door opened when the motor received commands "open". Additionally, tests showed that the keypad part works perfectly. Thus, the remaining work is to combine each part together. However, five days quarantine take up a long time.

The circuit of Wi-Fi model is shown in figure below.

week4: After five days quarantine, everything is combined. The final circuits and product are shown in figures below.


At the same time, the software part is also finished. The software manages to transfer messages between mobile devices and the Wi-Fi model. Since different messages represent different commands, the user is able operate the safe box. The welcome page and software interface are shown below.


After these combinations. we need to test both software and hardware. However, the results show that there was some troubles on Wi-Fi connection. The connection broke down randomly. The group numbers consider that it was due to hardware issues of the Wi-Fi model itself. It is an old type Wi-Fi model. After hardworking for several days, the test of application and Wi-Fi model is finished. The results showed that the application is able to transmit information, but still not stable enough.

Conclusion:
The project is built successfully. Although it may seems simple, the core technology inside would be used widely. We learn by ourselves from the internet, which means a lot. However, it is a pity that we cannot solve the stability problems due to the lack of relevant knowledges. If we have more time, we may try another type Wi-Fi model to make it more stable.
